Funding your treatment

There are different ways in which your treatment costs can be covered:

Private/Company Insurance Policy

Our consultants are recognised by all major insurance companies including BUPA, AXA, AVIVA, WPA, Vitality, Cigna and Healix, and our fees are charged in line with the levels published by the insurance companies. Anaesthetic services and charges are separate from Gynaechoice, and our secretarial team can help you with this. We work with anaesthetists who have also indicated that they are mostly fee assured, so charges for insurance shortfalls are few and relatively modest.

If you have private medical insurance you need to contact your insurer prior to your appointment to check your policy terms, level of cover and to authorise your consultation and treatment. You may require a GP referral letter.

Please remember you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.

Self Pay Consultations

Patients without medical insurance can opt to self-pay and do not require a referral from their GP to see one of our consultants. Fees are paid in advance of your consultation or treatment. If you self-pay for an out-patient consultation, you do not have to continue your care in the private sector and you retain your entitlement to NHS care.

Self Pay Out-Patient Procedures

If you are not insured it is important to be sure in advance, of the cost of seeing one of our specialist consultant team, particularly where any tests or procedures may be undertaken at your visit.

Where a visit only involves a consultation (with or without examination) the fee structure is simple:

  • First visit (new patient) £230

  • Subsequent visit (follow up) £110

The time scheduled for visits are not rigid and we will always try to be as flexible as possible but in general would allow 30 minutes for a first visit and 15 minutes for any subsequent visit.

At either first visit or subsequent visits, there may be a need to recommend blood tests or other investigation and these will incur additional hospital charges. We will always explain this in advance and do our best to give you a clear indication of the likely additional cost for you. However, there are some common scenarios for which we have agreed total package prices. These include the total cost of the consultation with your specialist and the particular test or investigation. They do not include any follow up visit.

  • Cervical Smear Test £249

  • Colposcopy Test (no histology) £564

  • Colposcopy Test (with histology) £1,124.00

  • Lletz (LOOP) procedure £907

  • Mirena coil insertion £395

  • Insertion of Vaginal Pessary £287

  • Zoladex injection (single) £273

  • Well woman package (consultation, examination smear test, CA125 blood test, pelvic ultrasound scan) £780

Self Pay Surgery

If you require surgery and are not insured, we offer a self-pay Fixed Price Package either through the Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital, the Spire Hospital Southampton or Sarum Road Hospital Winchester. These packages include the surgeon’s fee, anaesthetist’s fee (if applicable), hospital charges and one follow up visit.

  • They do not include the initial consultation or further follow up appointments.

  • A formal fixed price quote will be sent to you on confirmation of your booking

  • Fees are paid directly to the hospital

  • Interest free loans are available
